I was born in Asheville, North Carolina, where both of my parents were raised in a small community in Buncombe County. In 1980, my family moved to the Washington Park community of Winston-Salem before settling in Davie County, where I graduated from Davie High School. My interest in design and structure led me to Forsyth Technical Community College, where I earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Architectural Technology and Space Design.
I began my career in public service with the State of North Carolina in 1997, serving as an Office Assistant for the Community Service Work Program under the Department of Crime Control and Public Safety. Surrounded by dedicated colleagues and mentors, I learned early on that hard work, integrity, and compassion for others are the foundations of meaningful public service.
My commitment to justice soon guided me to the Forsyth County Clerk of Superior Court’s Office, where I worked as a Deputy Courtroom Clerk under Clerk Terry L. Holbrook. There, I received extensive training and experience in both District and Superior Court proceedings, deepening my understanding of the court system and the vital importance of collaboration.
In September 2001, I joined the Forsyth County District Attorney’s Office as a Victim-Witness Legal Assistant. For more than two decades, I have dedicated my career to supporting victims, working alongside attorneys, judges, and court staff to ensure that every citizen receives fair and compassionate treatment. Over the past five years, I have served as an Administrative Assistant within the office, managing support staff and overseeing human resources operations. My leadership and commitment to teamwork have helped foster a professional, collaborative environment that benefits both staff and the public we serve.
Beyond my professional life, I am an artist at heart. I enjoy lampworking hot glass to create beads at the Sawtooth Center for Visual Arts. I also love gardening, traveling, and spending time with my partner, Guy, and our beloved Miniature Schnauzer, Mabel.
I believe deeply in the power of collaboration and community service. It takes each of us to make a difference for all of us. Working with others toward a common goal is the key to solving problems and improving lives. As a long-time resident of Forsyth County and a public servant for 28 years, I am proud of my contributions to the local court system and honored to stand as a candidate for Clerk of Superior Court of Forsyth County.
With decades of experience, a passion for service, and a lifelong commitment to fairness, I continue to dedicate my work to the citizens of Forsyth County — striving every day to make a difference, one person at a time.
